Overview
What is the Green Labourer Card?
The Green Labourer card is the most common way into construction work in the UK. Most major contractors and principal sites ask to see a valid CSCS card before you can work on site, and the Green card shows you have the basic health and safety knowledge to work safely as a labourer.
To qualify you need two things: a pass in the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test for Operatives, and the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. Once you have both, you can apply for the card. It is valid for five years.

Ideal if you're new to construction and want to work on site as a general labourer, doing tasks such as loading, clearing, moving materials and site cleaning.

- Pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test (Operatives) within the last two years
- Achieve the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (or an accepted equivalent)
- Valid photo ID
