Overview

What is the CSCS Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Manager Card?

The CSCS Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Manager Card is a temporary card for experienced construction professionals who are already working in a technical, supervisory or management role but have not yet completed the recognised qualification required for their permanent CSCS card.

It is normally suitable for people who have at least one year of relevant on-the-job experience within the last three years and are registered to complete an approved construction-related Technical, Supervisory or Management NVQ/SVQ at Level 3, SVQ at SCQF Level 6, or a higher appropriate qualification.

The card allows experienced workers to continue working towards the recognised qualification required for their occupation while holding an appropriate temporary CSCS card.

The Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Manager Card is valid for three years and cannot be renewed.

Who is this card for?

Ideal for experienced construction workers who are already carrying out technical, supervisory or management duties but still need to complete the recognised qualification required for their permanent CSCS card.

You should normally have at least one year of relevant construction experience within the previous three years and already be registered with a Training Provider or Awarding Organisation for an appropriate Technical, Supervisory or Management NVQ/SVQ.

Depending on your occupation and qualification, this route may be suitable for experienced site supervisors, construction managers, technical staff and other people working at a supervisory or management level.

Your occupation and qualification must be recognised by CSCS, so eligibility should be checked before applying.

Proof of qualification registration

Before applying, you must provide evidence showing that you are registered to complete the appropriate Technical, Supervisory or Management qualification.

As a minimum, your evidence should include:

  • Your full name

  • Full title of the NVQ/SVQ

  • Qualification level

  • Relevant pathway where applicable

  • Date of registration

Your registration date must be within the previous two years.

Evidence should normally be issued by your Training Organisation or Awarding Organisation and clearly confirm that you are currently registered for the qualification.

Health and safety requirements

You must pass the appropriate CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the two years before your CSCS application.

The exact test depends on your occupation and the CSCS card you are working towards.

  • CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety & Environment Test

  • Another appropriate CITB test specified for your occupation
