For individuals working in entry-level, non-skilled, or general labouring roles within the construction industry

CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card
National Vocational Qualification Level 2 (NVQ Level 2) OR SVQ Level 2. Apprenticeship
CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Operatives/specialists
(According to trade)
For skilled tradespeople working in roofing, bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing, painting, or working at heights
Valid for 5 Years
CSCS Black Manager Card
National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4, 5, 6, or 7
CITB Managers and Professionals (MAP) Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test
For suitable site managers, project managers, and senior construction professionals responsible for overseeing work and safety on site.
Valid for 5 Years
CSCS Advanced Craft Card
NVQ Level 3 in a construction trade (e.g., bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing, etc.)
Must be in a relevant skilled trade occupation
CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test
Experienced skilled workers in a specific trade
Individuals working independently with advanced skills and experience
Those who are not supervisors or managers but are highly competent in their trade
Valid for 5 Years
CSCS Supervisor Card
NVQ Level 3 or 4 in a construction-related supervisory role
Examples include Occupational Work Supervision or Site Supervision
CITB Supervisors Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test
Site supervisors, forepersons, and team leaders,
Individuals responsible for supervising workers and ensuring health and safety on site,
Those who manage day-to-day activities but are not in full managerial roles
Valid for 5 Years
CSCS PQP Card
Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., CIOB, RICS, RIBA, ICE, APM, etc.)
Must be approved by CSCS under their Professional Bodies scheme
CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test
Professionally qualified individuals such as engineers, surveyors, architects, and managers
Those who are not in a craft or trade role but work in construction-related professional positions
Individuals who have achieved recognised professional status in their field
Valid for 5 Years
CSCS AQP Card
The AQP card requires a construction-related degree, HND, HNC, CIOB certificate, or NEBOSH diploma
CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test
Graduates & Trainees: Recent graduates or students starting their career in construction.
Technical & Management Roles: Engineers, surveyors, architectural technicians, and construction management professionals.
Specialists: Individuals who need to enter sites for supervision, surveying, or design purposes but do not perform manual trade work.
Valid for 5 Years
Level 2 course OR NVQ Level 2 Enrolment letter. For TSM NVQ Level 3,4,5,6,7
Operatives/Supervisor/
Manager and professional (MAP)
Experienced construction industry professionals who have obtained an NVQ Level 2 qualification.
Each Red Card has a different validity, ranging from 6 months to 5 Years
